The Yosemite of the Oberwallis

Above the small village Gondo a vast wall, called La Sentinella or Rudenwand, dominates the scenery. Equipped in the year 1980, there is only one route that has been reequipped during the last years, Le Rondini Sanguinarie 7a. This route is also said to be one of the best alpine climbs. Awesome cracks and edges within a wonderful  alpine scenery makes it a unforgettable adventure to climb. Those who’d like to climb one of the classic routes should be aware of various dangers like rockfall and bad protection. Rappeling isn’t always possible. A detailed topo, bolts and a hammer, nuts and frinds are a must. The Rudenwand is well accessible by public transportation systems.
