Popular climbing spot near Basel

The Schartenflue, also called Gempen, offers climbing possibilities on different pillars and walls. The rock is quite rough compared to other climbing spots in the Baslerjura. Since the approach is very short and the routes are well protected, the Schartenflue receives a lot of visitors. The nearby restaurant, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view is another reason that makes the Schartenflue so popular. Besides the Pelzli and the Falkenflue, the Schartenflue is number three in size.
