Sportsclimbingroutes on the legendary north wall

Eiger northwall is a magnet. Everyone who once has been standing under this huge and impressive wall has to come back again. That happened to Michael Piola, Stefan Sigrist and some others who equipped routes on this legendary mountain. The sportclimbing routes follow the right of the northwall. The rock is solid and the routes about 700 meters high. Some routes start in the middle part of the wall, which can be reached by rappeling. The 7th french grade must be mastered to climb these routes in a good speed. A rappel is mostly imposssible! The down walk on the western ridge is not a promenade and you must look for enough daylight.
